WHY IS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING EFFECTIVE?
DUBAI was a cultural and educational experience (I had to go there for training purposes). It helped me to appreciate South Africa in terms of our quality of life and made me think of the words of wisdom from a North American Indian chief when he addressed President Washington two centuries ago:
“Can we eat money and buy rivers?”
On leaving DUBAI, I’ve realized how much I’ve missed the clear skies of South Africa against the backdrop of how impressive “BLING” can be within a certain moment in time, but the overwhelming emotion was that bling don’t last. What we need is open space and challenges.
The past months have illustrated that nothing is for ever…what happened to GOOGLE?! Our minds must be stimulated all the time. It is the hippocampus that reflects the good and bad…and for the good to great to have the upper hand, we need virtual stimulation. It’s a challenge of space and stimulation.
In our training we’ve stumbled across a You Tube Video that might explain something of the dilemma of our kids overwhelmed by technology and social media (PS it is not junk!);
